Strikes by Fabian Iacovelli, James Virgili, Matt Sim and Mirjan Pavlovic saw the Novocastrians claim the three competition points, while the Mariners- Gavin Forbes scored a late consolation goal for the home side.
In the 19th minute, Iacovelli stormed through the middle of pitch and unleashed a fierce shot on goal. Central Coast custodian Nik Matic did well to parry the initial strike away, but Iacovelli-s predatory instincts shone through, picking up the scraps to stab home the rebound.
The visitors doubled their advantage right on the stroke of halftime when Virgili reacted quickest to a poor clearance from the Mariners defence. The Qantas Young Socceroo ghosted in to fire home and give the Jets a two goal advantage at the interval.
With less than quarter of an hour played in the second stanza, the Jets all but sealed the victory when a foul by defender Luka Dukic whilst defending a corner resulted in a penalty. Jets winger Matt Sim calmly slotted away the subsequent spot-kick from 12-yards.
Midway through the half and Newcastle would complete the demolition of their local rivals when striker Mirjan Pavlovic rose highest to unleash a powerful header, giving his side a comfortable 4-goal cushion.
Forbes snared a late consolation goal for the home side when he displayed some blinding speed to round Jets ‘keeper Robbie Kolak and finish smartly from a tight angle in the 82nd minute.
