The Newcastle Jets youth team will take on Weston Workers FC at Thomas and Coffey Park in the NBN State League on Sunday afternoon.

The Jets will be looking to bounce back after losing their last match 4-2 to Hamilton Olympic. That fixture was Clayton Zane-s first match in charge and it proved to be a baptism of fire for the new coach.

The Jets were reduced to 10-men and were without a goalkeeper when shot-stopper James Fogarty was sent off in the first half.

With Fogarty suspended and regular goalkeeper Jack Duncan still on international duty with the Australian under 20-s, first-team defender Sam Gallaway will pull the gloves on and guard the goals in their absence.

There were no NBN State League fixtures last weekend due to a break for the State Cup which has given the Jets players a chance to rest and recuperate.

The Jets are currently in second place on 29 points, just three behind competition leaders Broadmeadow Magic.

The last time the two sides met, it was the Jets who came away with the three points, picking up a 2-0 win courtesy of goals to Abe Wheelhouse and Andrew Hoole.

Weston meanwhile are in seventh place but are unbeaten in their last four outings and are sure to provide the Jets with a stern test.
