Jets Youth fall to AIS

The Newcastle Jets Youth Team has been defeated 2-1 by the Australian Institute of Sport at Deakin Football Stadium.

The Newcastle Jets Youth Team has been defeated 2-1 by the Australian Institute of Sport at Deakin Football Stadium in their National Youth League round 22 clash.

A brace by the talented Kamal Ibrahim was enough for the home side to get their first win of the season over the Jets, despite a strike just prior to the halftime whistle by Newcastle-s skipper Taylor Regan.

The AIS took the early advantage in just the 7th minute when midfielder Ryan Edwards made a marauding run on the counter attack, before laying off to Ibrahim who slotted home with aplomb when one-on-one with Jets custodian Robbie Kolak.

The Jets restored parity right on the stroke of halftime though, when a dangerous corner was whipped into the six yard box to be ultimately poked home by Regan from close range.

With the game there for the taking for either side in the second stanza, Ibrahim once again stepped up to the mark with quarter of an hour remaining, getting on the end of substitute Jake Barker-Daish-s cross to head home powerfully to claim the winner.
