Newcastle Jets Youth has secured their second straight win courtesy of a dominant 4-1 display over the Australian Institute of Sport at EnergyAustralia Stadium this afternoon.

A double to striker Mirjan Pavlovic, coupled by goals to midfielders Brodie Mooy and Fabian Iacovelli, was enough to see the Jets home in the National Youth League Round 9 encounter, despite Kamal Ibrahim restoring parity to the match on 63 minutes.

All five goals were scored in an entertaining second stanza after both sides had drawn blanks in the opening 45 minutes despite showing attacking enterprise.

Indeed, it was Newcastle who enjoyed the better of the opportunities, just lacking the killer touch.

On 17 minutes Mooy did well to steal the ball from AIS captain Ibrahim before skewing a shot just wide of Aaron Lennox-s left post.

Soon after Jason Naidovski hit a low drive which was spilled by Lennox, but Pavlovic couldn-t fire the follow up home.

The AIS had their best chance just before halftime when Jake Barker-Daish hit a volley the Jets defence had failed to clear just past goalkeeper Neil Young-s right post.

The Jets returned from their halftime team talk with coach Craig Deans keen to attack, and his troops responded with Pavlovic breaking down the left before firing home from the edge of the area in the 49th minute to open the scoring.

On 63 minutes, the AIS restored parity when young flier Ibrahim scored an outstanding goal after he cut inside from the left and hit a fierce strike from 25-yards out that gave Dion Shaw no chance in the Jets goal.

Moments later and Mooy gave the Jets back the lead when finished off a fine move down the left initiated by substitute Will Angel. After the Hyundai A-League player slotted home from 10-yards, it wasn-t long before Pavlovic secured his second when Balderson played the big striker clean through on goal in the 69th minute.

To cap a tremendous period for the Jets Youth, speedster Iacovelli then burst onto a Pavlovic through ball and calmly finished at the near post in the 71st minute to give the home side a 3 goal cushion that they would maintain for the remainder of the match.
