CEO John Tsatsimas has announced his resignation effective at the conclusion of the 2010/11 season.
Newcastle Jets CEO John Tsatsimas has today announced his resignation effective at the conclusion of the 2010/11 season.
In making the announcement, Tsatsimas who has been involved at the club since its inaugural year, initially as General Counsel for the first two years then as Chief Executive Officer for the past four seasons, said:
“I am very thankful for the opportunity given to me to be part of what I believe is the best franchise in the Hyundai A-League. I would like to acknowledge the unqualified support given to me by the Owners, Chairmen, coaches, players, staff and volunteers during my tenure.
“The highlights for me, apart from the Club winning the Grand Final in 2008 are the
enduring friendships that I have made in the Newcastle community and experiencing the Novocastrian pride and spirit first hand”.
The Tinkler Group Executive Chairman, Mr Ken Edwards was positive in his praise on John-s achievements over the past six years.
“We are grateful that John-s professionalism and experience has helped guide the club during the infancy of the clubs new management structure. Without question, he was the rock that held the club together during its previous difficult period.
“Johns professionalism was highlighted when he agreed to put the Jets before his family and continue in his role as CEO to help out the club until the end of the season and facilitate a smooth transition.
“John is highly regarded by all in Australian football but no where more than at the
Newcastle Jets. The Tinkler Sports Group is hopeful that John will not be lost to us and continue in a senior capacity based in Sydney”, he concluded.
John Tsatsimas further expanded on his reason for resigning his post at the Jets:
“The daily commute from Sydney for the past four years, where I reside with my young family, to Newcastle certainly made it a difficult proposition to continue. I believe that it was important to remain after the ownership change to ensure a smooth transition for the Club and that the season carried on as uninhibited as possible.
“Finally, I would like to thank the fans – the lifeblood of the club – for their passionate and unconditional fervent support. The Club has assembled a phenomenal administration team to take the Jets forward under the stewardship of Nathan Tinkler, Ken Edwards and Richard Fisk with a great coach in Branko Culina.
I verily believe that the Jets are about embark on an unprecedented run of success both on and off the field that will be the envy of other sporting organisations”, he concluded.
A replacement for John Tsatsimas will not be made until the club has fulfilled its
commitments for the season.
