Kantarovski puts team first

Returning to Australia early on Friday, Ben Kantarovski started for the Jets during their 1-0 win against Adelaide United.

Arriving home early on Friday morning after a month spent representing the Australian under 23-s in the UAE, Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets midfielder Ben Kantarovski started for the Jets in their 1-0 win against Adelaide United on Friday night.

“We were in touch with Ben over in Dubai and had a chat to him about how he felt and I spoke to him twice the day he landed and he said in the afternoon that he felt good and went on to give us 45 minutes of good quality football,” coach Gary van Egmond said.

“I thought he did extremely well and that is they type of player we want here in Newcastle, they are the type of players that put the team and club first and it was fantastic to see such a young fellow come out and to do what he did.”

The Jets resumed training on Monday and they shift their focus to Saturday-s away game against Melbourne Victory, and they will work on .

“For the amount of possession we had we should of created more shots on goal, we need to get better at creating opportunities in that front third and it is definitely something we will working on this week,” the coach explained.
