Croatian midfielder Mateo Poljak joined Newcastle Jets in July 2015 on a two-season contract. The hard-working midfielder commenced life in the Hyundai A-League with Western Sydney Wanderers, signing for the red-and-blacks for their inaugural season in 2012. In his three years with Wanderers Poljak won a Premiers Plate, featured in two Grand Finals, and also won the 2014 AFC Champions League. Poljak is a member of the Newcastle Jets’ senior leadership group and has worn the captain’s armband at times in his impressive first season with the club.
