More than 1,500 Jets Members voted in the Club-s official poll, with an overwhelming majority of 76% opting to acknowledge the Hunter region-s rich football history by voting for the emerald and cinnamon design (pictured above).

The emerald and cinnamon strip adopts the City of Newcastle-s official colours, which were also worn by KB United as the first Newcastle team to compete in the National Soccer League back in 1978.

Of the two other away strip options, the charcoal-coloured design finished with second-highest number of votes with 13%, while the predominantly white third option gained the least amount of votes with 11%

Jets CEO Robbie Middleby said adopting the emerald and cinnamon away strip was a fantastic way to pay tribute to the Hunter football community-s past.

“It-s a fabulous way to remember the first team that ever represented Newcastle on the national stage,” Middleby said.

“The Hunter region has such a proud football tradition and for the Jets to be able to pay homage to that is a fantastic thing.

“The likes of Sir Bobby Charlton, Craig Johnston, Col Curran and Kenny Boden all wore the KB United colours at different stages in their careers.

“It is a unique and instantly recognisable strip that is like no other currently being worn in the A-League.”

Middleby thanked all the Newcastle Jets Members who voted in the poll.

“We were extremely pleased to be able to engage with our Members by allowing them to select our away strip for the upcoming season,” Middleby said.

“On top of all the votes that were submitted, we also received plenty of comments and feedback on all three away strip designs through social media.

“The response we had to this initiative has been fantastic and I think the Members have made an excellent choice.”

The Newcastle Jets- official apparel partner ISC will immediately place the new design into production.
