The Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the re-signing of experienced shot-stopper, Glen Moss on a one-year deal for the 2018/19 Hyundai A-League season.

The Kiwi international was the first signing made by Jets’ boss, Ernie Merrick following his appointment to the head coaching role in May 2017, and the Scotsman was quick to secure Moss’ services for another season.

“Glen has been fantastic for the group, from the minute he arrived in Newcastle he’s been first class,” said Merrick.

“The experience he offers, his presence around the squad and in particular, his work with Jack Duncan has been invaluable.

Moss has made 8 appearances during the 2017/18 campaign, deputising to Duncan in the early part of the season before joining the first team when the young keeper was struck down with a foot injury.

“Glen’s presence has been truly significant, and he’s played a major role in Jack’s improvement this season – creating healthy competition for the first team position, as well as passing on his wealth of experience,” added Merrick.

“When required to step into the starting role, he was outstanding – putting in a couple of man-of-the-match performances and making some unbelievable saves.”

With 214 A-League appearances for Wellington, Gold Coast and Melbourne Victory, Moss is the owner of an impressive footballing resume, which also features 29 appearances for the All Whites.

The veteran custodian said he was enjoying his time in the Hunter.

“Ever since arriving in Newcastle with my family, we’ve felt right at home,” said Moss.

“Lawrie (McKinna), Ernie and the entire club have been brilliant and I’m really enjoying my football at the moment, it was an easy decision to sign on for another season.

“We’ve got a great bunch of lads here and things are going well both on and off the field, it’s awesome to be a part of and I’m looking forward to seeing where this group can go.

“The fans have been amazing this season and I can’t thank them enough for their support, the reception I’ve received every time I’ve taken the field has been brilliant.

“It’s been really enjoyable working with Jack and Chris Bowling (Goalkeeping Coach) and I’m excited to continue improving and contributing to the squad.”
