Three of our Newcastle Jets Academy sides played out a series of matches at Coffs Harbour throughout the week, with a ton of positive results.

Our U/14s boys were crowned Hyundai A-League Academy National Champions, following six wins from a possible eight over the course of the week.

This was only supported by a resounding 5-0 win on Friday over the Member Federation National Champions, Western Australia.

In a further gong, Newcastle Jets youngster Ben Van Dorssen was named the Player of the Tournament for the U/14s.

In addition to our U/14s successes, our U/12s boys (playing up a year) and U/13s boys also held themselves in high regard with a number of good performances and positive results throughout the week.

The three sides were complimented by a number of observers for not only their efforts on the pitch, but the way they conducted themselves off it, too.

Jets Academy Technical Director, Craig Deans congratulated the three teams for their efforts throughout the week.

“Our boys really did the whole Club proud throughout the week, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the effort and the ability on show in Coffs over the week,” Deans said.

“For our under 14s boys to top their group and beat out their Member Federation counterparts is a really positive sign for the future of our Academy.

“A special mention goes out to Ben van Dorssen, who was a very-deserved winner of the Player of the Tournament award.”
