The Newcastle Jets rolled out the red carpet today for the highly anticipated arrival of Brazilian defender Tiago Calvano.

Upon his arrival, Tiago headed straight to the iconic Nobby-s Beach where he was given his first taste of Newcastle, the place he will call home for at least the next two years.
Tiago-s pregnant wife and four year old daughter will make their way to Australia in August, just in time to see the dynamic defender pull on the red and blue for what is set to be a huge season for the Jets.
“My family arrives in a month, they are very happy and are looking forward to living in Australia,” Tiago said.
Tiago will be welcomed to Newcastle by his excited teammates tomorrow when he attends his first training session.
“Everybody has told me positive things about the A-League and Newcastle,” added Tiago.
“It is a nice Club, and very professional.”
Tiago-s arrival only further adds to the excitement surrounding the Jets are they prepare for the 2011/2012 A-League season.
