Newcastle Jets Lachlan Jackson, Nicholas Cowburn and Devante Clut travelled to Myanmar on the weekend as part of Josep Gombau’s Australia U23 National Team.
The Jets trio took part in a week long camp in Sydney prior to being selected in Gombau’s 23-player squad for the AFC U23 Championship China 2018 Qualifiers, which will be held at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon.
The camp featured training matches against both Western Sydney Wanderers and Central Coast Mariners.
Australia’s first match will be against Brunei Darussalam on Wednesday (19 July), followed by Singapore on Friday (21 July) and then the host nation, Myanmar, on Sunday (23 July).
To qualify for next year’s AFC U23 Championship, Australia needs to top its group or be one of the best five second placed teams of the ten qualifying groups.
