Newcastle Jets today named an initial seven (7) player squad for this Sunday’s inaugural #F3Derby ‘Legends Challenge’ against Central Coast Mariners in Gosford.
Former Caltex Socceroos Nick Carle and Ljubo Milicevic will join 2008 Hyundai A-League Championship winners Matt Thompson, Stuart Musialik, and Adam Griffiths for the match.
Also turning out for the Newcastle select side will be former Newcastle Breakers and United stalwart Andy Roberts, as well as goalkeeper Jim Fogarty. Fogarty has represented the Club at youth level, and earlier this season provided back up to Jack Duncan in the Hyundai A-League.
Steve Eagleton was committed to play however has unfortunately had to withdraw this week, while some players including Joel Griffiths and Jobe Wheelhouse are unable to make an appearance this year due to their PS4 National Premier Leagues commitments.
Further players may be announced later this week.
The inaugural ‘Legends Challenge’, supporting Men of Football, will kick off at 3:30pm and feature 15-minute halves in a 7-v-7 half-pitch format.
The game will take place shortly before the commencement of the final #F3Derby of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 regular season, which starts at 5:00pm.
The participating players will also form a guard of honour for the current #F3Derby combatants as they take to the pitch in Gosford for the round 26 encounter.
