Andrew Nabbout’s star continues to rise with confirmation today that the Newcastle Jets attacker has been named as Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) Player of the Month for January 2017.

Adelaide United forward Sofia Huerta claimed the Westfield W-League gong.

Voted on by all of the PFA’s Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League members, the pair enjoyed a brilliant month scoring 10 goals and starring for their respective clubs.

Having been narrowly edged out by Marco Rojas for December’s PFA A-League Player of the Month, Nabbout said he was thrilled to have won the award.

“It’s a massive honour for me to be receiving this award especially because it was voted by the players in the league,” said Nabbout.

“To be recognised for my efforts by my teammates and opponents is a massive deal to me and something I’m very proud of and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.”

PFA President Alex Wilkinson from Sydney FC congratulated Nabbout and Huerta.

“Sofia and Andrew were outstanding in January, with their goals and general performances contributing a huge amount to a brilliant month for the A-League and the W-League,” said Wilkinson.

“On behalf of our members congratulations to them both. I wish Andrew all the best for the remainder of the campaign and hope to see Sofia starring again in the Westfield W-League next season.”

In addition to his PFA Player of the Month prize, Nabbout won the Newcastle Jets Beechwood Homes Player of the Month Award in October 2016 and December 2016 and is also a nominee for January 2017.
