Newcastle Jets can today confirm that one of the Club’s key major partners, Varley Group, has extended its support of the Club for a further Hyundai A-League campaign.
Varley Group is one of Newcastle’s oldest and most advanced engineering companies, with their operations dating back to 1886.
Just two days before the start of Hyundai A-League season 11 Varley Group signed on as a major partner of the Jets for the first time, and their branding featured on the rear of the first team’s playing shorts throughout Scott Miller’s debut season in charge of the men from Hunter Stadium.
However while last season marked Varley Group’s first season as a major partner of the region’s Hyundai A-League Club, it wasn’t the locally based, yet nationally recognised company’s first foray into football in the area.In fact, Varley Group - who offer a vast range of services and products to a wide variety of industries - are involved in football at many levels in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley via their sponsorship of Westfield FFA Cup participants Edgeworth Eagles FC, involvement in Northern NSW Football events, as well as their association with the Rangers of 1884 Club.
Varley Group Managing Director Jeff Phillips said his organisation - which also supports a significant number of local and national community groups and charities - are delighted to have extended their major partnership with the Newcastle Jets to a second season.
“Varley Group are proud to continue our partnership with the Newcastle Jets into what is a new and encouraging era for not only the Club but also Novocastrian sport,” Phillips said.
“At Varley Group we place the highest importance on actively supporting the local community, and sponsoring the Jets is one of the many ways we wish to give back to the Hunter region.
“Under Lawrie McKinna and the Ledman Group the future of the Newcastle Jets appears remarkably bright. Varley Group are excited to share in the Club’s progression throughout the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season,” Phillips concluded.
Newcastle Jets Chief Executive Officer Lawrie McKinna took part in a tour of Varley Group’s Tomago Head Office alongside Phillips earlier this week.
McKinna said he was impressed with the size, diversity and professionalism of Varley Group’s operations.
“It was interesting for me to take time out with Jeff [Phillips] to learn more about Varley Group’s business and see with my own eyes the sheer scale of their operations earlier this week,” McKinna explained. “In our backyard we have an organisation employing over 600 local people which delivers outstanding services and solutions to many business sectors.”
“I learnt on Monday that Varley Group, among many other things, are involved in the customisation of Australia’s emergency services, defence, health, and rescue vehicles, and knowing that makes me extra proud that they are aligned with our Club as a major partner.”
“As a Club it will be our aim to deliver above and beyond our agreement with Varley Group in the next 12 months so we can help them achieve their goals,” McKinna concluded.
