Newcastle Jets Youth will commence their Foxtel National Youth League (FNYL) 2015/16 season on Sunday with a round 1 hit-out against Western Sydney Wanderers Youth at Magic Park in Broadmeadow. Kick off is at 10:00am while admission is free.

Jets Youth boss Clayton Zane has been working with his young charges since October having given his players time to recharge following their respective National Premier League (NPL) campaigns.

Zane has contracted 15 youngsters for the 2015/16 season, which for the first time in FNYL history will be split into two conferences.

Jets Youth will be joined in ‘Conference B’ in the eight round competition by Wanderers, Central Coast Mariners, Sydney FC, and FFA Centre of Excellence from Canberra.

Conference A consists of youth teams from Brisbane Roar, Melbourne City, Melbourne Victory, Adelaide United, and Perth Glory.

The teams that top Conferences A and B will meet in a Grand Final on the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of January 2016.

Zane’s squad for the FNYL 2015/16 season contains many returning players, but also several fresh faces.

Goalkeepers Blake Tuxford and Bon Scott have been recruited from the Central Coast and Queensland respectively, while defender Jayden Barber joins from local NPL club Broadmeadow Magic.

Duo Kristian Brymora (forward) and Cody Carroll (midfield) have joined Zane’s squad having progressed through the club’s Emerging Jets pathway.

Zane’s ten other FNYL contracted players have been involved in the squad in the past.

These players include defenders Nick Cowburn, Tom Whiteside, Caio de Godoy and Ben Hay, plus midfielders Andrew Pawiak, Antonee Burke, Tom Waller and Ryan Ensor.

Zane’s attacking options include Braedyn Crowley and Charlie Horsley. Moreover, Brandon Lundy — who is on a professional youth deal with the club — is another option for the former Socceroo.

“We’ve gone for a little bit younger squad this Foxtel National Youth League season to try to tie in with the Emerging Jets program,” Zane explained.

“We’ll also be working closely with the first team to provide avenues for players who need match minutes or may be returning from injury, to get the game time they require.”

“Positively, we’ve had many of our contracted youth players, including Tom Whiteside, Andrew Pawiak, Blake Tuxford, Bon Scott and Nick Cowburn, join full time first team training recently,” he said.
