It’s been a happy fortnight for the Jets Youth, who have picked up six points of a possible six on offer in the NPL Northern NSW.
They were contrasting victories, a 3-1 rout of Lambton and a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Valentine, but they were back-to-back victories all the same for the young Jets.
On Sunday afternoon, they have the opportunity to make it three wins on the bounce and potentially move into a share of, or outright, first place on the ladder.
REPORT: The win over Valentine
Their opponents, Adamstown Rosebud, have six points after eight matches so far in 2019.
Without a washout last weekend, Rosebud enjoyed a weekend off but they did play midweek in the FFA Cup – going down 3-0 to Northern League One side, Kahibah.
With the impending departure of Labinot Haliti as the side’s coach, his side is sure to be pumped up and keen to give him a good send-off.
It will be all eyes on the prize in Haliti’s mind though, with plenty for him to ponder from last weekend’s effort.
The triple substitution against Valentine kicked the young Jets into gear and saw them score three goals in twenty minutes to win from behind, so could some of those boys be promoted into the starting XI this weekend?
Captain, Kieran Hayes scored the winner from the bench while Riley Smith and Cal Gabriel each contributed heavily in the come-from-behind victory.
Spare a thought for Gabriel this weekend, up against a club in Adamstown for whom he played seven games last year before making the switch to the Jets.
