NPL: Carroll class helps junior Jets to draw

A well-taken goal from the club’s 2016 Youth Player of the Year Cody Carroll helped Newcastle Jets Youth secure a 1-1 draw with Lambton Jaffas on Saturday.

Carroll struck in the first half of the round 8 PS4 National Premier League (Northern New South Wales) encounter to help Clayton Zane’s side to an advantage at the interval.

However John Majurovski managed to find the back of the net for the hosts at Arthur Edden Oval in the second stanza, and while both sides pushed for a winner as the game wore on, the teams were ultimately made to settle for a point apiece.

The draw leaves both Jets Youth (eighth) and Jaffas (sixth) in the same positions in which they entered the round.

In round 9 of the PS4 NPL NNSW Jets Youth will travel to Blacksmiths Oval, Blacksmiths to face Valentine FC.

Valentine are currently in ninth place in the competition standings, however are equal with Jets Youth on five points. Indeed, they even have the same goal difference as the junior Jets, but are currently ranked behind Zane’s charges on goals scored.

Kick-off on Saturday 4 June is at 3:00pm, with lower grades played prior.
