Newcastle Jets Youth’s mid-season struggles in the Northern NSW PS4 National Premier League continued on Saturday when the team suffered a 3-2 defeat to Lambton Jaffas at Edden Oval.

The result mirrored the outcome of the round 1 meeting between the two teams played at the same venue.

The junior Jets took the lead on Saturday through Braedyn Crowley’s 10th minute goal, however second stanza efforts from Jamie Byrnes, John Majurovski and Alex Palozzi helped Lambton to a 3-1 lead with just minutes remaining.

Jets young gun Reece Papas scored a cracker from range in the final moments of the match to reduce the deficit.

In positive news on Saturday, Jets Hyundai A-League squad member Josh Barresi took to the field in the final 20 minutes of the match in his competitive return from injury.

Barresi will commence full pre-season training with the first team in the coming weeks.

Peter McGuinness’ Jets side will enjoy a break this weekend before taking on Maitland FC in round 11 of the NNSW PS4 NPL on Sunday 28 June.

Kick-off at Cooks Square Park is at 2:30pm.
