NPL: Jets Youth submit to Magic’s spell

It was a game to forget for the Jets Youth team on Saturday afternoon as they fell 5-1 to Broadmeadow Magic at Magic Park.

Peter Haynes found the back of the net for Magic in the 12th minute when a cross found its way to the back post. Haynes nodded the ball past the oncoming Pierce Clarke to send the home ahead.

Kale Bradbery made it 2-0 in the 25th minute after he found himself in behind the Jets defence. Keeper Clark rushed Bradbery, but he made no mistake, sliding the ball past Clark and into the back of the net.

The Jets were awarded a penalty in the 31st minute after Jeremy Wilson was ruled to of brought down Kristian Brymora inside the penalty area. Brymora made no mistake, nailing the ball into the roof of the net, leaving Magic keeper Nikolaos Giantsopoulos with no chance in goal.

Bradbery made it 3-1 with his second goal of the afternoon in the 52nd minute. His first attempt was initially saved by Clark in goal, but he finished the second time round, placing the ball into the bottom corner.

James Virgili got his name on the score sheet eight minutes later when he placed the ball past Clark after some great build up play by the hosts saw them with numbers inside the Jets’ penalty area.

The former Jets attacker put the nail in the coffin in the 80th minute when he tapped the ball home at the back post to round out the scoring.

The Jets Youth squad will be looking to move off the foot of the PS4 National Premier Leagues (Northern NSW) ladder when they face the Lambton Jaffas at Arthur Eden Oval on Saturday afternoon.

It will be a tough task however as the Jaffas are on top of the ladder, sitting on 20 competition points. Lambton are coming off three wins in their last three starts, defeating Charlestown, Adamstown and Maitland.

The Jets are looking for their first win this season having managed three draws from their first nine matches. They’ve shared the points with Adamstown, Weston and Lake Macquarie FC.

Kick off on Saturday afternoon is scheduled for 2:30pm.
