Players to turn it around

With the Jets returning home this weekend, they will be looking to start the new year with a bang.

A 5-2 loss to Wellington Phoenix last weekend caps off a disappointing three weeks for the Newcastle Jets, who have not won a game since week 10 of the Hyundai A-League competition.

With the Jets returning home to Ausgrid Stadium on Saturday afternoon, the team will not only be looking to put an end to their three game losing streak but also start the new year with a bang.

“Our performance is something only the playing group can control and we as coaches can say as much as we like and show them certain things but at the end of the day it is all up to the players,” coach Gary van Egmond said.

“The issue we have is staying together and making sure we are tighter in our belief of the best way to play.

“We need to ensure everyone is on the same page or we are going to see two styles of play taking place in the same game and we are going to have problems.”
