New Newcastle Jets recruit Dimitri Petratos spoke with local media on Tuesday following the official announcement that the former Ulsan Hyundai attacking midfielder had signed a two-season contract with the Club.

Petratos on playing under Ernie Merrick
“I am very excited – he has won the league before. What I have seen in the media from him is all positive. I think the most important thing is to be confident and positive and all work together as a team. Ernie (Merrick) is a very good coach, so that played a part in me coming back as well.”
Petratos on playing for Newcastle Jets
“I am happy to be one of the signings. It’s looking very positive and I think in the end everyone just has to work hard. I am going to work my hardest and take it each game at a time, do what the coach wants and try and get the results. Everyone has to play their part. It can’t be one person, or two people, it was to be a team effort. I am sure that Ernie will get us to work as a team, and I think we will do well.”
Petratos on his experiences at Ulsan Hyundai
“Everywhere you go you are going to have your ups and downs. I can take a lot of positive things (from my time in Korea Republic) and I think it was a learning experience for me there. I am sure that it has made me a more experienced player and hopefully I can use it in Newcastle. Overall it (Ulsan Hyundai) was a good experience for me.”
