REVIEW: Jets flattened by Phoenix

Thumbnail

Newcastle Jets suffered a disappointing 5-0 defeat at the feet of Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand on Sunday.

Goals to Kosta Barbarouses and Gui Finkler in the first 45 combined with efforts from Matthew Ridenton and Roly Bonevacia in the second half – plus a 66th minute own goal from Jet Jason Hoffman – did the damage.

The Jets’ Hyundai A-League Finals Series hopes are now over, however the Club still has its annual community round to play at home this weekend.

On Saturday the Jets will host Western Sydney Wanderers, before rounding out the regular season away to Central Coast Mariners and Sydney FC.

This Saturday’s match, fuelled by Greater Bank, will recognise the great work being done by OzHarvest and the Greater Charitable Foundation in the community.
