Dominik Ritter says he cannot wait to return to A-League action after resuming full training with the Jets this week.

Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets defender Dominik Ritter says he cannot wait to return to A-League action after resuming full training with the Jets this week.

Ritter has missed the Jets- last six matches with a hamstring injury, but could be in contention for a return to the Jets squad for this weekend-s trip to Campbelltown to face Western Sydney Wanderers.

“It-s up to the coach and it-s his decision, but if he decides to put me on the pitch I-m ready to go and give 100 per cent,” Ritter said.

“It felt like a long time, just over a month, but I-m feeling fit now. I-ve done hard work with the physio and I-m happy to be back with the team.

“I absolutely can-t wait for the first game when I will be back playing. It-s always different just training to when you really can play and I-m really looking forward to the week.”

Despite spending over a month on the sidelines, Ritter said there would be no holding back when he does eventually make his return for the Jets.

“Maybe the first session you try not to go into those hard challenges where there is a chance to hurt yourself,” he said.

“It-s in your mind, but if you can let it go and just go for it, then it-s all good.”

Although being injured for an extended period would have no doubt been frustrating for Ritter, the 23-year-old said he had been happy with the Jets- performances during his layoff.

“I think we-ve done a pretty good job. We-re unbeaten in the last five games, and especially our defensive shape has improved pretty well,” he said.

“If you see the table, it-s close from fifth to the eighth spot and as you know we want to make the top six and go into the finals.

“We just have to make sure we win against these other teams who are trying to take our spot there and also get some points from the teams in front of us and it starts this week against Western Sydney.”

All pre-purchased tickets to the game include travel from Newcastle to the venue on CityRail trains as well as free transport on regular Sydney Buses (STA) services, Liverpool to Parramatta T-way buses and Sydney Ferries services.
