Roy O’Donovan is your Newcastle Jets Hyundai A-League 2018/19 Golden Boot winner.
The 34-year-old has bagged 11 goals in his 19 matches this season following his delayed start to the season due to suspension.
It took until Round 9 for Jets fans to finally see the Irishman in action, and just one more match for him to bag his first of the season in Round 10 against Adelaide United.
He went on to score ten more over the course of the season – two in the following two matches against Brisbane and Melbourne City.
The lethal striker followed that up with a double against the Wanderers in a wet Western Sydney at the beginning of February, taking advantage twice from twelve yards out.
O’Donovan scored the sealer in the mid-February win over Melbourne City, and pulled one back against the Central Coast Mariners in the RAAF Round derby.
Roy grabbed one in each of his following matches against the Wellington Phoenix and Western Sydney Wanderers, the first a poacher’s effort and the second a delightfully placed finish into the far corner.
The number 9 finished his season’s tally with a double in that big 6-1 win over Brisbane Roar to take his total to 11 – becoming just the fifth Jet to surpass double figures in a single Hyundai A-League season.
O’Donovan’s goals this season have taken him to 20 in total for the Club, which makes him second on the Hyundai A-League scoring charts for the Jets - only Joel Griffiths (34) is ahead of him.
