SQUAD: Jones names initial 18 for Wanderers mission

Newcastle Jets will be without dynamic winger Andrew Hoole for this Sunday’s clash with Western Sydney Wanderers at Campbelltown Stadium.

Hoole received his fifth yellow card of the campaign in last week’s 2-2 draw with Perth Glory at McDonald Jones Stadium, incurring an automatic one-match ban.

Jets coach Mark Jones has named a preliminary 18-player squad for Sunday’s trip to Western Sydney, where seventh-placed Newcastle will face the eighth-placed Wanderers.

Key midfielder Wayne Brown could return to action from a hip-flexor complaint incurred late last week. The injury kept Brown out of Sunday’s stalemate with the purple-whites.

Ben Kantarovski is making sound progress from his knee injury, which has kept him sidelined since round 9. Kantarovski should be eligible for selection for upcoming matches, perhaps even the Club’s clash with Melbourne City at C.ex Coffs International Stadium in Coffs Harbour on January 27.
