SQUAD: Who is heading west?

17 Newcastle Jets players will travel to Western Australia today ahead of Saturday’s clash with Perth Glory at nib Stadium.

The Jets broke an 11-year “hoodoo” in Perth in round 10 of this season, defeating the purple-whites 2-1 on their home patch for the first time since 2005.

The two teams met again in Newcastle in round 15, playing out a 2-2 draw at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Gun midfielder Wayne Brown has been added to the squad that defeated the star-studded Melbourne City in Coffs Harbour last week. Brown is set to feature for the first time since round 14 when the Jets defeated Brisbane Roar in Queensland.

Joel Allwright will also travel to Perth for the contest, however midfielder Steven Ugarkovic will miss the game against Kenny Lowe’s charges due to suspension. Ugarkovic picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against City in Coffs.

Encouragingly, midfielder/defender Ben Kantarovski (knee) and defender Ivan Vujica (hamstring) are not far away from being available for selection by Mark Jones again – the Jets boss has listed both players as possible one week prospects to be available again.

Kick-off between the Jets and Perth Glory at nib Stadium on Saturday is at 7:00pm local time (10pm AEDT). The match will be broadcast LIVE on FOX SPORTS 505.

The Jets will hold their final training session ahead of the encounter in Western Australia on Friday.
