After a week on the sideline Nikolai Topor Stanley is back in the mix whilst Taylor Regan will keep his spot.

After spending a week on the sideline due to a hamstring injury Nikolai Topor-Stanley is back in contention for the Newcastle Jets game against Wellington Phoenix on Friday night.

“Nikolai is back in the mix but we will need to see how he goes as the week progresses,” Gary van Egmond said.

“He trained with the team today and yesterday, and we will consult the medico’s before making a final decision.”

One player who is sitting comfortably after impressing van Egmond during the Jets loss to Sydney FC on Saturday afternoon, is 23-year-old Taylor Regan who was called back into the team last week to replace Topor-Stanley.

“Taylor Regan will be pretty close to the first name that goes on the team list,” he added.

“He is starting to realise that he really deserves his spot and I like his ability and his passing out from defense is good.

“He also has very good organisational skills and is coaching players from in front.”
