Ben Kantarovski, James Virgili and Robbie Kolak have been selected for the Qantas Young Socceroos to play in the AFC U-19 Championship 2010 Qualifiers next month.
Newcastle Jets youngsters Ben Kantarovski, James Virgili and Robbie Kolak have been selected for the Qantas Young Socceroos to play in the AFC U-19 Championship 2010 Qualifiers next month.
The trio will depart for Bandung, Indonesia next Wednesday after completing a short training camp in Sydney.
Kantarovski has recently returned to Hyundai A-League action after playing in all three group stage matches for the Qantas Young Socceroos at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt.
Virgili was named in the Qantas Young Socceroos- FIFA Under-20 World Cup preliminary squad, and trained with the team in Cyprus prior to the tournament. The 17-year-old and his teammate Kolak are members of the Jets- National Youth League squad.
Club CEO John Tsatsimas said that Jan Versleijen-s selection of the trio was a credit to the Jets for continually giving young players an opportunity to shine.
“It-s obviously a huge honour for players to get picked to represent their country and we wish them all the best when they don the green and gold,” he said.
“For us to have three players selected for this squad is testament to the youth development at the club and we will continue to strive to produce some of the best young footballers in the country,” said Mr. Tsatsimas.
