Gary van Egmond will announce his week 7 squad this afternoon.

This afternoon, coach Gary van Egmond will announced his squad to take on reigning premiers, Brisbane Roar on Saturday at Ausgrid Stadium.

Yesterday van Egmond said he did not expect to make too many changes this week but will use today-s session to determine exactly which players will make the cut.

“I don-t see myself making too many changes this week,” he said.

“Ruben (Zadkovich) will be one player who puts his hand up for contention, he did really well against Perth and we missed his enthusiasm and closing down ability against Heart.”

Another player hoping to be included in this week-s starting line-up is Brazilian defender Tiago Calvano, who played his first game back from the bench last weekend after a hamstring injury.

“Tiago has been out for awhile but has been back in full training for 10 days now,” van Egmond added.

“He played half a game in the Youth team on the weekend and he is feeling a lot better in regards to match fitness so we will have another look at him towards the end of the week and decide which is the best way to go.”

With so much depth in the Jets squad, competition for positions is tough with Taylor Regan, Calvano and Nikolai Topor-Stanley all putting their hand up for a spot in the defence.

Van Egmond says that competition for places is also happening in the midfield.

“It is really good to have competition for places and it is also happening in the midfield,” he added.

“In the midfield we have Jobe Wheelhouse, Kasey Wehrman, Ruben Zadkovich, Labinot Haliti and Ben Kantarovski.

“We need to decide which is the best way to go.”
