Injuries aplenty and illness too has forced Craig Deans to make some changes to his squad to travel to Adelaide this Friday.

The equation is tight, and given the Jets are virtually out of the running for consecutive finals appearances, Deans has indicated that the youngsters could run the show.

TALKING POINTS: Five things to ponder ahead of Friday

Newcastle’s most experienced player, Gema Simon is out of the side after succumbing to injury troubles which have plagued her all season.

Explosive attacker, Cortnee Vine is also out after coming down with a bout of tonsillitis.

Renee Pountney

It means that Deans has promoted Renee Pountney to his named squad of 15, who will be hopeful of seeing some crucial Westfield W-League minutes.

Sophie Nenadovic is also in the squad, and could be in the mix for her first appearance of the season.
