Three goals in the second half secured a famous, come-from-behind win in the Westfield W-League on Saturday afternoon for the Jets.
Arin Wright cancelled out Sam Kerr’s first-half goal and Tara Andrews pulled us into the lead, before Cortnee Vine put the icing on the cake in injury time.

Here’s what we learnt from a big win on Saturday afternoon.
Fortress No.2
It was a brilliant afternoon at Newcastle’s No.2 Sportsground on Saturday, with the sun setting behind a full grandstand and a packed ground of nearly 2,000 people.
The Westfield W-League was the place to be this weekend, and it was the support from Jets Members and fans that helped get the girls over the line.
With the side set to finish their season back at No.2, against the Wanderers in a match that could decide their finals fate, they’ll be hoping for another big, boisterous crowd.
Dazzling debutant
At just 17-years-old and untested in the Westfield W-League, Tessa Tamplin must have been feeling a lot of different emotions on Saturday leading into her professional debut.
If one of those emotions was nervous, then the wide player didn’t show it at all.
She got on the ball 58 times and fired in 11 crosses, turned players for fun, and made four crucial tackles in her 72 minutes.
Not bad for a debut, and Tamplin certainly didn’t do her chances of consecutive starts in the Westfield W-League any harm.
In the running
It’ll be tight and it might take a mathematician to work it out in the end, but the Jets are still in the running to appear in the finals series for the second year in a row.
On ten points after Saturday’s win, the Jets have to knock over Melbourne City, Adelaide United, and Western Sydney Wanderers in their remaining three games.
With Sydney in fourth place and currently on 15 points it’ll take a few teams to fall over in front if we’re to make it – fingers crossed.
