Y-League: McBreen announces 2019/20 squad

Daniel McBreen has named his Youth Team squad ahead of the November 16 Foxtel Y-League season-opener against Sydney FC.

There are a number of familiar names in there for Jets fans, with scholarship boys Noah James, Maki Petratos, and Jack Simmons set to play a part in the campaign.

Also returning to the fold are a number of Youth Team players from previous NPL Northern NSW and Foxtel Y-League seasons, with defenders Kieran Hayes and Tom Beecham amongst them.

Promotion from within has marked many of the ins for the former Jets U/16s coach, with the likes of Pat Bond, Tao Grieves, and Adam Zervas a part Club’s premier Youth team for the first time.

McBreen has made just one signing from outside the Club, recruiting Canberra United’s Lucas Mauragis for his squad.

Speaking prior to Tuesday afternoon’s training session, McBreen said he was pleased with the balance and quality of his squad.

“It’s a really balanced squad this season, and having worked with almost all of these boys at some stage I’m confident we can hit the ground running,” McBreen said.

“There’s a good mix of experience and youth in the side, guys like Kieran Hayes and Tom Beecham will be important for us in guiding a few of the new faces.

“We’ve been in training for a few weeks now and things are coming together nicely, we’re just excited to get out there on November 16 and get our season underway.”
