Zadkovich: We can’t do this alone

Jets captain Ruben Zadkovich has penned an open letter to Club's supporters ahead of Friday's must-win clash with Western Sydney.

An open letter from Newcastle Jets captain Ruben Zadkovich

Being given the Captain-s Armband mid-season has been my proudest moment during my time at the Newcastle Jets.

I genuinely feel a responsibility to our Members and our community to have the boys at their best on match day and ensuring that we represent our Club in the right manner.

This Good Friday, I am faced with the biggest challenge so far my in my career at the Newcastle Jets.

I am charged with leading a team into battle against the Western Sydney Wanderers who sit at the top of the table, knowing that we must be at our absolute best to ensure that we win and make the finals.

Our preparation in the lead up, the final message in the change rooms and the walk down the long tunnel are all elements that are under our control.

However at 5.30pm, when our boys start the walk onto Hunter Stadium, I need you, your family and your friends filling the stands and supporting our team.

I have seen the reports about the number of Wanderers fans attending Hunter Stadium, however I know that this will be nothing compared to the support that Novocastrians show their own, when their team needs them the most.

Perhaps this game happened for a reason, with a public holiday allowing as many Novocastrians as possible the chance to get behind their team and our push for a place in the Finals Series.

In closing, this is not a game to show your support from afar. We NEED YOU at Hunter Stadium this Good Friday to show your support for your team.

I promise we-ll play with the pride and passion you deserve as our loyal Members and supporters!

Ruben Zadkovich.
