One of the youngest members of the Newcastle Jets squad, Port Macquarie junior Angus Thurgate is one of the rising stars in Australian football.
Thurgate has spent time with the nation’s under 19 side and the midfielder cut his teeth in the Jets NPL Northern NSW and National Youth League sides for a period of time before making the step up to the Hyundai A-League.
The highlight of his time so far with the Newcastle Jets has been his meteoric rise after moving from Port Macquarie to Newcastle; Thurgate earned himself a scholarship and then professional contract in the space of six months.
Thurgate’s first appearance for the Newcastle Jets was on 12 January 2018, off the bench in a 1-0 win over Brisbane Roar.
