John Koutroumbis
Defender
Biography
18. An NPL South Australia player who was given a shot in the top flight, Koutroumbis is a versatile player with plenty of pace.
Initially signed as an injury replacement from West Adelaide as an 18-year-old back in 2016, Koutroumbis has flitted between the defence and the midfield during his time with the club.
The highlight of his time so far at the Newcastle Jets would be his Goal of the Month winner back in December 2017: a strike from outside the box to opening the scoring against Western Sydney.
Koutroumbis made his professional debut for the Newcastle Jets back in 29 October 2016, in a 2-0 loss to Sydney FC and has since become a pivotal figure in the squad roster.
Mostly being deployed in the defensive line, Koutroumbis offers composure while under threat from opposing attackers and can put in clinical challenges down his preferred right channel.
